Our Physiotherapy Process

So what should you expect from one of our physiotherapists on your first session?

Getting to
know you

All of our sessions begin by listening to your story. We will ask detailed questions to try and understand your symptoms, as well as how you live your life. We want to understand what you expect from your sessions and how we can tailor the sessions to you. The final part of this stage is setting your goals for treatment and how you will know when you have met these.

Physical
assessment

We will then progress on to a full and comprehensive physical assessment. This comprises – posture, movement, strength and functional ability. This is an important part of your first session as it helps us identify the root cause of your symptoms and gives us a baseline to measure improvements.

Hands-on
treatment

Physiotherapists here at The Osteopaths and Physios use a blended approach – hands-on techniques and exercises. We firstly address your pressing issue by using manual therapy techniques to ease your main symptoms, whether that be pain or stiffness. This helps set up a foundation for your recovery that we can build on throughout your treatment.

Exercise
Plan

At the end of your first session we will run through key exercises that you will be able to do to help manage pain day-to-day and prevent recurrence. These exercises will also be a way that you can continue progressing treatment between sessions.
